Student survey

First year physics students questionnaire 2011
The IOP in Ireland carries out an annual survey of first year students in third level who are taking physics. The survey is designed to look at factors which influence students in making their decision to take the subject. In 2011-2012, 156 students at colleges across Ireland completed the survey.

First year physics student survey 2009
The education group of the IOP in Ireland carried out a survey of first year undergraduates in May 2009, on motivation and key influencing factors on their decision to study physics. The survey of 199 students across six of the Irish institutions, specifically looked at areas such as previous practical experience, prior engagement with colleges, national outreach activities, the influence of family, friends and teachers as well as the student's interest in the subject.
