Science Library

Science was at the heart of Lurgan Library recently with IOP Ireland’s Liz Conlon and Declan McKeown from the Royal Society of Chemistry running a series of highly interactive workshops using household items for around 150 children and parents.

Balloons, straws, things that go pop and a sprinkling of astronomy all combined to make a very enjoyable family fun day. The event, which was organised by Deirdre Breen, Branch Library Manager, is part of a series of all designed to encourage young people into the library.  Feedback from the day was very positive with a representative of MumsNI contacting Liz for help on setting up a science club. Liz will be back in Lurgan in November for a space workshop.
