The Belfast buskers include a number of highly enthusiastic physics postgrads from the School of Mathematics and Physics at the Queen's University Belfast, who never fail to excite and engage their audience.

Sentinus Young Innovators is the premier science event for schools in Northern Ireland and incorporates the Big Bang Fair as well as engineering challenges and experiences. This year Minister Stephen Farry of the Department of Employment and Learning and Minister O'Dowd of the Department of Education were in attendance.

The Institute of Physics stand was thronged all day long, with pupils as young as 7 or 8 getting immense satisfaction from being allowed to try out simple physics experiments, such as balloon skewers and straw oboes. Many teachers remarked that these activities were perfect for sparking an interest in physics in their pupils.
