UCC triumph at IOP Intervarsity Physics Quiz

UCC were the winners of the IOP in Ireland and Nexus first ever Intervarsity Physics Quiz on Friday evening 27 February at 7pm at TCD.
Dr John White from UCD performed the quiz master duties excellently and with not a little humour during the proceedings. It turned out to be an extrememly close competition with UCC and NUIG battling it out in the final head to head round for the trophy with the last question determining who would be the winners.
A team of five entered from TCD, DCU, DIT, NUIM, UCC, NUIG, QUB, and UCD making it a truly 'all Ireland Intervarsity event'.
The quiz was half physics half general knowledge and the perpetual prize was a large silver plated trophy to be passed on to next years winning team. Next years quiz will run in UCC. There was a travel grant available from the IOP for the visiting teams to support their teams to travel to this event and we hope to have the same system in place next year.
