- Tape I: Conduction in Pure Crystals
An introduction to insulators, conductors, semi-conductors, flow of free electrons causing electricity. Germanium is used to explain lattices, valence electrons, bonding, thermal generation, recombination and the effect of heat and voltage on the crystal in terms of conductivity. - Tape II: Conduction in p and n crystals
The film shows how doping could produce p or n type crystals and looks closely at how electricity is conducted in terms of majority carriers. - Tape III: The p-n junction
Looks at the 2 opposing forces which limit the size of the barrier region. - Tape IV: The Crystal Diode
- Tape V: The Transistor
A transistor's ability to amplify' power is explained in terms of electron/hole movement at the emitter- base and collector base p-n junctions.
