21 students presented posters at the Spring Weekend Meeting 2006. The students themselves were asked to identify the six best posters, which were then adjudicated by Robert Kirby-Harris (IOP Chief Executive), Cathal Flynn (Dublin Institute of Technology), and Lorraine Hanlon (University College Dublin). The prize winners were:
First prize: Orla McGoughey (Dublin City University)
Development of a multi-analyte integrated optical sensor platform for indoor air-quality monitoring.
Second prize: Robert Lynch (University of Limerick)
Crystal orientation dependence of nanoporous layer growth in indium phosphide;
Third prize: Pavani Kotakonda (Dublin Institute of Technology)
Electrically switchable liquid crystal gratings using surface relief effect in acrylamide based photopolymer.
