Each year the Institute of Physics in Ireland awards a silver medal to the student in first place in the Leaving Certificate and Northern Ireland A Level examinations.

IOP silver medals for first place in 2009 Leaving Certificate Physics and GCE A-Level Physics
The IOP award for the highest level of achievement in physics in the 2009 Leaving Certificate physics examination was awarded to Rebecca Feeney-Barry from St Columba's College. Ms Feeny Barry is now studying science in Trinity College Dublin.
The medal was presented at a ceremony at the RDS on 1st February where the Tyndall Lecture was being presented.

The IOP award for the highest level of achievement in physics in the 2009 GCE A Level Physics was Manvi Singhal from Victoria College, Belfast. Medal to be presented shortly.
